Once when my grands came to visit from Ipoh, my eldest sis treat us to have lunch at the newly popular Room Eighteen (拾八风味） at Tropicana City Mall.

This is my whole family. The elders are my mother's side grands. The pretty one in jacket is my eldest sis that do not live with us.

We ordered many different dishes and shared so that we can taste more types. Their special chillie sauce enhance the taste of all the food.

One of their on going promotion at that time is giving out this offer voucher to the first 50 customer. We manage to get 3. Very cheap so we order all 3, pretend can't finish then tapau back. This is one of their recommended dish that should be try.

Another must try dish at this type of restaurant is Xiao Long Bao (原味小笼包). Four piece for RM8.80. I think the soup inside is a little too thick.

People will be attracted to the name, World's No.1 Bun (天下第一包). For me, this two bun that cost RM3.80 only taste like normal Char Siu Bao, nothing special.

Our only main course, Seafood Congee (拾八风味粥). It's yummy but i don't think it worth RM12.80.

Salt & Pepper Squid (椒盐脆鲜鱿) - RM9.80. Crunchy & salty...

Chinese Spinach in soup (芫菜) that cost the same with the porridge (RM12.80). Hmm... Which one more not worth it?

Delicious dim sum time.... Crispy Egg Tart (RM3.80), Yam Taro Puff (RM4.80), Steam Rice Flour Roll a.k.a Zhu Chang Fen (RM10.80)

Black Pepper Chicken Feet (RM3.80) & Steam Pork Ribs (RM5.80). Meat very tender...

What i like the most is the tea comes in individual glass so we can choose our own favourite tea without sharing. But of course the price is not cheap, RM2.00 per glass (refillable).

Dragon Fruit Heaven

It's time for me to update my blog again as someone keep saying my processor too slow. Well, my post are not going to be my latest updates but some of the interesting things that i have done mostly last year & some this year. Hope you enjoy.....

Somewhere at Sepang, a nice dragon fruit farm is hidden there. Not really hidden but usually only tour groups or regular customers will visit this farm. It's not a big farm but they sell everything that is made from dragon fruit with cheaper price.

Multi Rich Pitaya Sdn Bhd have a very friendly and nice boss who will give you try out all his products as much as you like even without any purchase.

Yeah, no big deal seeing & eating dragon fruits. But have you try eating the fruit fresh at its farm? Choose & eat till you drop before deciding to purchase or not. How cool is that?

Up close & personal with the legendary dragon fruit farm. Can't believe that such "beautiful" (for me its ugly & scary) plant & fruit contain such high value (in terms of nutrition & price). Too bad the time of our visit was not fruit season or else the view will be more nice.

Another star at this place is the passion fruit. I have heard of passion fruit but never seen before. It taste sour but in a sweet way. According to the boss, the more ugly & wrinkled, the more sweet it taste. All the yellow part including the seeds can be eaten, that's why feel kinda weird like crunching sticky seeds.

Passion fruit plants.

They call it "miracle fruit" here. People at Cameron Highland have different name for it. What so miracle is that once you eat this, all the extreme sour fruits like passion fruit will feel very sweet in your mouth and tongue. No kidding, really miracle.

Enzyme are very popular now. According to the boss, dragon fruits' enzyme contain many many goodness until I don remember what. So my "healthy" family won't miss the chance & bought 2 nicely pack bottles of dragon fruits' enzyme. I don't even like the fruit so I don't like & won't drink its nasty taste enzyme (just pretending in the photo).

Sweet & fresh juice anyone? No added sugar, artificial or other ingredients.

Although i don't like dragon fruit, but whatever made into cooling ice-cream will be nice.

Kinda not related but they sell Japan sweet potato as well.

If you are too full after eating all those products, don't worry, there is clean toilets build specially for customers.

Promoter for Schick Roadshow @ 1 Utama

Just a week before my new semester start, my last job for the holiday is being a promoter for Schick shaver roadshow at 1 Utama. Before i start, all my family feel funny that girl have to sell shavers. But i'm happy working because all the girls are very fun. Another nice working experience....

Our little but interesting section just opposite the information counter at old wing. Quite near to Guardian but quite tired every nite have to move all stocks into the store when finish work.

There are lucky draw, golf challenge & fake beard photo taking. I got take a couple of those pictures myself but i won't show it to anyone because its too ugly & funny. Hehe...

Top is Helen, our super funny & fun "supervisor". Left is pretty but psycho Desiree that bitten me (she really bite very hard on my arm). Right is (oh shit! i forgot her english name. We all call her Ah Qi or something like that) who like to teach me things.

First 4 days only 4 of us working so we have great time enjoying ourself.

The two new girls only start work on my last day. Don't know them well but they are kinda sweet & friendly.

Taugeh Chicken in Ipoh is famous but another type which is famous is Salted Chicken. Fragrance with herbal and with a touch of salty, this chicken is highly recommended must try at Ipoh. I hear that there is a branch at KL but I'm not sure if its this company.

Aun Kheng Lim salted chicken is located at Ipoh town. Some people said there is another brand which are nicer than this but we always bought from here only.

RM16 per chicken. They can sell hundreds of chicken a day to many people and tourist. Their store is full of empty boxes ready for take away only. Mostly will pre-order but they do prepare some for passerby. So go early if you didn't make reservation.

Every chicken will be nicely packed in individual box with nice plastic bag.

Hiong Piah, originally from Perak, is a type of biscuit that is well known for Malaysian. Many people should have tried before so i think i don't have to explain further.

Yee Hup Hion Piah is one of the popular brand. Nice packaging & nice taste.

One of their mini branch is very my grandparent house. Its located just outside Sam Poh Cave Temple & near the pomelo stores.

Nikki always bought a lot of Hiong Piah and many others for souvenirs.

Anyone interested can place order. I'll buy for you when i go back Ipoh. But you have to pay me back la. Hehe...

Books of The Year

Hah! Finally i have finish reading the latest novel by Dan Brown. Bought it last month but until now only i have time to finish reading it. The Lost Symbol is the not the best among all but still great. Highly recommended for Dan Brown type readers. Worth using so much of my hard earn money & add this book to my Dan Brown collection.

After discount is RM80. This cover is US version. There's another UK version cover.

Now i'll start reading the popular Twilight Saga. My crazy sister used 1 night to finish 1 book. Now she's super obsessed with vampire & warewolf. I also worry i can't stop reading once start. I'll let you all know once i have finish. But i can guarantee it's very nice & highly recommended too.

All the four books of Twilight saga that cost RM188. Luckily my sister pay for this.

Although it's expensive but the packaging is nice & the box is heavy, Make people feel like worth it.

My Grandparent's Big Birthday Celebration

Last month during my exam period, we went back Ipoh to celebrate my grandparent birthday. Its been a long long time since we do it in banquet. Its a good chance to gather all the remaining family members, although have to spend some money. The restaurant is quite good in terms of their food, big portion and quite cheap compare to KL. Let me introduce the food first then only the people and celebration.

This is one of the most popular & reputable restaurant at Ipoh.

Restaurant chosen by my grandparent, my mom them decide the menu, 2nd uncle make the reservation. Good cooperation & good choice.

They only provide tea. Soft drinks & whiskey brought by us.

Super huge starter platter. Nice & delicious.

Don't worry, we boycott shark fin. This is a very tasty fish soup that is similar with shark fin soup. We can save the sharks while enjoying this traditional dish, so please don't eat shark fin anymore. No demand then no killing.

Ipoh's must eat dish, "steamed" chicken.

Adult's favourite, mix vegetables. I only like few types of the vegetables in it.

Longevity noodle that must be eaten by everyone during birthday celebration. The noodle must be long and cannot cut to symbolize longevity. Different place have different cooking style but all bear the same meaning.

Last but not least, sweet & cute dessert. I don't like the red bean soup because they put santan.

After the fulling meal, its time to bring out the main "star". This 4.5kg pandan cake was custom made at Bee's Bakery, Jusco Kepong. Super heavy & huge, but very tasty as well. Bought by us but paid by 2nd uncle.

People from the restaurant help us cut out & divide the cake. We only ate part of the edge of the cake, not even 10%. So everyone get to take back as much cake as we like. I took some for my next day breakfast.

Our grandparent. The tiny little one is my great grandmother, we fetch her come all the way from Bidor. Nobody even herself know her exact age. Definitely over 90 and some say over 100.

I don't remember what's their relationship with my grandma but I call them "yi po & yi gong" (2nd grandma & grandpa).

My mom is the eldest child in family & this uncle is the eldest son, a.k.a my mon's brother.

On the left is the family of my mom's sister (youngest daughter in family). On the right is the family of my mom's brother (youngest son & child in family).

The lady in black is my grandma's friend. She's a pity & lonely widow, but me & Nikki don't like her. Tell you a secret, she is Nikki's ex future mother in-law. Wahahaha!

One of my favourite tradition, everyone get an angpau. Yea! Even the waitress that served our tables get it.

Uncle Song's Birthday Celebration

Last weekend me and my family celebrated my uncle's birthday. He's alone so my sister suggest to treat him eat wstern food and celebrate with us.

Chili's Restaurant at Midvalley Megamall.

Free flow of soft drink, fruit juice & ice water.

Caesar salad with prawns. My favourite salad with fresh & nice prawns.

Triple Play: Wing Over Buffalo (chicken wings tossed in spicy wing sauce), Southwestern Eggrolls (smoked chicken, black beans, corn, jalapeño Jack cheese, red peppers and spinach wrapped inside a crispy flour tortilla), and Chicken Crispers (strips of hand-battered chicken fried to perfection) served with dipping sauces. My sis divided this dish while i'm busy with dunno what so i didn't get to take the picture of the whole dish.

Kickin' Jack Nachos: Nachos with beans and queso with a hint of seasoned beef with jalapeño Jack cheese and Margarita spice, served with house-made pico de gallo and sour cream. One of their significant appetizer. I think it taste like normal thin crust pizza only, nothing special.

Fish & Chips.

Chocolate Chip paradise Pie a.k.a Brownie's. A warm, chewy bar layered with chocolate chips, walnuts and coconut, topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with hot fudge and caramel. FOC for birthday celebration. They don't check I/C so you can just say its your birthday. But be prepare to attract attention as they will sing songs for you.

MCP Celebrations

Another steamboat buffet? Yup! But this time is not for the sake of eating but for celebration. We use our remaining budget to treat all the talents that help us for free. This is also the 1st time (i think) our whole class went out dining together. That night was very enjoyable and happy because all the unwanted annoying classmate didn't attend. They didn't have heart at all and give face to attend, but it make us happy as well cause no need see their face and hear their voice.

The most famous steamboat buffet restaurant at Sunway. This is the 2nd time i dine there. Their BBQ chicken wing is super nice!

Our table consist all girls which doesn't have "yi tai" when eating buffet. Haha...

All the guys and talents are at the other table so they were more successful in grabbing chicken wings and finishing their foods.

4 of us doing crazy & weird pose again. We wanted to take 1 photo only but YCC challenge us to change pose every 3 seconds. So we end up taking so many ugly photos.

Our dearest producer very "creatively" plan a lucky draw to give out all the remaining props. The grand prize is a big rug won by our director. The most expensive prize is battery won by one of the talents. Other prizes include glass plate, curtain clips, deco, and wrapper. I won't a marker pen. There are 2 unlucky person who didn't get anything. The funniest lucky draw i have ever seen.

Last but not least is of course group photos.

At the end we still lepak around the table chatting and acting.

Its quite already quite late and yet we STILL lepak outside the restaurant, blocking the whole corridor and entrance. Everyone seems tak sampai hati wanna separate and go back. So we stay there and chat for quite a long time. Finally it end.....

Ho Jiak BBQ Steamboat Buffet @ Kepong

Lately very busy with study & exam. Still got many things i haven write in my blog. So now i'm slowly updating it. Somewhere in mid last month, my mom suddenly say wanna eat BBQ steamboat so we went to a restaurant at Kepong that is recommended by Cuiyi (she never try before but her bro did). Its at the back row of new stores at Carrefour side. Already so long so i didn't remember the price. If not mistaken is RM18+. I think its quite nice cause got quite a lot varieties. My sis say its even better than Ampang Waterfont. For me both also nice.

I like it when they separate steamboat & BBQ, got more space. Choice of soup is of course clear soup & Tom Yam. Their Tom Yam quite nice.

These are all the food that we ate. The choice for BBQ is not very good because very less fish, only 1 type of mutton, no beef, no pork, but got lots of chicken with different flavors. They also have fried chicken and BBQ chicken wing, but we didn't get to taste it cause we sat outside and tak sempat grab when out.

Attending Sook Yen's convo is very happy because we get to meet with our far distance best friends, Yin Tee (now Catherine) & Chia Fong (Jovy). Its very hard to meet them becasue they we are all living busily and very far. Next time we would would be next year or probably longer. Miss them sooooo much....

Congratulations to my dearest Yen for being the 1st Degree holder in our gang. May you have a bright future ahead and all your dreams come true.

Bumbu Bali @ Puchong

Wanted to go Bali but no chance? Now you can escape to Bali for a while and taste their food. BumbuBali Restaurant at Puchong (near Giant) is a very nice place for dining, although quite expensive. But its worth trying and I highly recommend it.

Nasi Campur BumbuBali (RM). Combination of Balinese grilled lemongrass prawn, squid, fish, beef or chicken rendang, and sate lilit, served with lawar, sambel terasi and sambel matah. A must try for true Bali taste.

Siap Megoreng (RM). Deep fried lemongrass chicken served with lawar, sambel terasi and sambel matah. A very big piece of chicken. Yum....

Lemongrass Mojito (RM11.00). Soda blended with lemongrass and mint. A cooling and fragrance unique drink.

We wanted to have dinner at hawker stalls at Kepong but we went to early so they haven't open. So we go around and find for other things to try. Our final decision is a newly open restaurant, Restaurant Penang Nibong Tebal Seafood Porridge. Their recommended main dishes include crab porridge & crab bihun. The prices is slightly higher but the quantity is quite big. Taste also quite good. I wanted to give credit to the boss as his service is super good. Below is the food that we ordered:

Usher in Tsai Chin Concert @ AOS, Genting Highland

2 weeks ago, me and my utar geng went to work partime as usher for Tsai Chin Concert at Arena of Star, Genting Highland. Its my 2nd time and their 1st time working there. My 1st time is during Fei Yu Ching Concert. Very low salary but i still like to work because can watch free show, better than stay at home spending money. This time got an unhappy experience with the stupid guy. But i'm not kiddy like him so i'll keep working there if got chance.

Pasir Panjang Segari Turtle Management Centre @ Perak

Last month i went to Pusat Penetasan Penyu Pasir Panjang Segari, near Lumut, to do my own mini recee. Me and my groupmate will do a documentary shooting here so i went there to have a look when i go back ipoh. Luckily i came here because i'm unable to join the shooting and miss all the fun. I highly recommend everyone to visit this place. Its really amazing to be able to get so close with this endangered species. They are so beautiful, making me want to protect them more. The place is not very big but its an unforgettable experience for visitors.

The Garden Cafe @ 1 Utama

What a beautiful and sweet cafe! During gathering with some of my secondary school best friends, we went for movie at 1 Utama then have lunch at Garden Cafe. We were impressed by their decorations and friendly services. All of us ordered set lunch but i forgot the prices because i didn't keep the receipt. Price is of course not cheap but acceptable. Food is also very delicious. Guys might not like it because its too flowery but my mom surely will fall crazily in love with all the flowers.

Beautiful and interesting menu with many colourful pictures and flowers' significance.

Every set lunch comes with ice lemon tea and soup of the day. Although I don't like tomato soup but theirs is quite nice.

Ice's set of creamy cheese mushroom spaghetti Carbonara. Very creamy and cheesy.

When nearly finish our main course, the waiter will bring a tray of dessert and see whether we are interested or not. We are quite impressed by this idea as we don't have to choose from menu. We shared a Mocha dessert.

Tanjung Malim Famous Bak Kut Teh

The most famous Bak Kut Teh in Tanjung Malim is non other than Chun Mei Bak Kut Teh Restaurant. One of Nikki's best friend, Suki, is the daughther of the owner. This restaurant have been established many many years. It is the favourite dinner and supper place for most of the lorry drivers that traveled to Perak. That day on the way back Ipoh, Suki tumpang our car back home then treat us to dine there. The taste i can only say "thumbs up!". If you happen to pass by Tanjung Malim, do try it out.

The restaurant is easily noticible from the main road.

Sek Yuen Restaurant

Last month me and my family went to have dinner at a very famous and expensive chinese restaurant near BTS. We pass by then my sister insist wanna try it. What so special about this restaurant other than established long long time ago is they still use charcoal to cook. So you can imagine how long we have to wait for our food. We didn't order any of their significant dishes because it's expensive. The food is good but many people say that they are quite cocky in terms of services. It's full house almost every night so they will scold if you add order. Wow! But if you want to experience traditional taste food, services, atmosphere, and don't mind spend some money, then you can try it out.

The old building 0f Sek Yuen Restaurant. They have a new double story restuarant with air-cond next to it.

Fish Wantan Noodle

Rawang lately got a new food attraction, fish wantan noodle. It's not wantan made from fish. It's not even wantan. It's also not fish in wantan noodle. It's the curly wantan noodle in fish. Imagine putting wantan noodle in steamed fish. That's what it is!

At first we thought its very hard to find the place. But there's this banner along the way so we manage to find it easily.

The restaurant is not very appealing like a normal kedai kopi.

They put jasmine flowers under every table to cover up the fish smell.

They don't have hardcopy menu but have a big pictures menu hanging on the wall.

Tadaa.....! This is the significant dish. Available in 3 different steam style. Taste like normal steamed fish but added wantan noodle only. Every plate is single potion. But if each people eat a portion then you won't have space to try other dishes.

Another type of their famous dish, deep fried fish.

All the food that we order. The claypot dish is "Doggie Duck" which is duck cook in the way people usually cook dog meat. Others are Kangkung Belacan and Yong Tau Fu.

I don't remember the price but if not mistaken it's not cheap. But if you are curious food lover then should try for once.

It's durian season now! Everyone faster go out and buy durian!
Last weekend when me and my family went to Rawang and bought a lot of durian. 3 for RM10. At 1st we wanted to buy RM30 only but its so tempting so we add another RM10. Lastly the malay guy manage to persuade me to buy RM50 in total. The best part is i manage to persuade the malay guy to FOC about 5 durian for me by being his wife in those few minutes. Haha...

3 big tupperware durian for only RM50. We always bring our own tupperware and request them to open the durian for us, can save our time and energy.

True Malaysian are durian lover. Yummy......

It's also mangosteen season! We are lucky to have king & queen of fruits in our country.

End of Internship Celebration (Part 3 - Final)

My last celebration which is also been planned long ago is going to Sunway Lagoon continue with buffet steamboat at a famous restaurant nearby. Supposedly the 4 of us go but Rachelle was busy at her hometown. Then Christina and Cuiyi plan to bring partner but end up only Christina's boyfriend make it. So I pair up with Cuiyi.

I wanted to wait for some photos from my friend but I gave up waiting so I publish this outdated post now. There is a new variety show hosted by the famous Singapore comedian. I'm an extra at one of their short drama on episode 2. It's a very fun experience. But I'm quite disappointed when watch it at TV because the way they cut short everything makes it less funny compare to the original longer version. However, I'm very proud to be able to take pictures with so of the best artists from Singapore. Xiao Xiao Li still hold some of the photos so I can't show you the cute new boy in J Team Production.

The famous director, Jack Neo. I'm very impressed by the way he direct. He like to change scripts frequently last minutes but everyone in his J Team Production able to cope it because they are very spontaneous and experience.

Henry Thia, better known as "Hui Ge". Don't think that he always act dumb, but he's actually the only there that have "diva" attitude. At 1st he look kinda creepy but luckily he's quite nice with female. The 2nd picture is him with all of the extras in that particular scene.

Mark Lee. So sad that the only picture with him is so blur. It's all my fault because I think that without flash is nicer but end up blur. In person he's quite cool, talk very less. And he's very thin, i think that his leg is thinner than mine.

Indian Wedding

We attended one of my sister's colleague's wedding at Seremban. My sister own a Saree and my mom own a Punjabi suit. So that day morning we purposely go buy a Saree for me. Since I don have enough time to give tailor to make a blouse, I have to wear tube to replace blouse. But it's OK because modern young Indian nowadays like to wear tube with Saree.

Nights @ Luna Bar

Recently i went to Luna Bar at Pacific Regency Hotel opposite KL Tower on saturday two weeks straight. The 1st time is to bring a cute Swiss tourist from Hong Kong. The 2nd time we bring my mom and my sister's friend to finish up the whiskey that we left on 1st visit. After 9.30pm will be RM50 cover charge. We purchase a bottle of Black Label and manage to persuade them to let 8 of us in for free at the 1st night. On the 2nd night, they only let 3 of us free and the other 2 have to pay cover charge.

Mother's Day Celebration

We celebrated Mother's Day a week earlier because my grandparent came from Ipoh to visit. So my sister treat us all lunch at Yaki Yaki Japanese Barbeque Buffet Restaurant at Bukit Bintang. There are some negative feedback for this restaurant but we that time got 50% promotion so we still try it out. The result? I think it's very good. No complain at all except some of the lazy waiters there. Just ignore them and you'll surely enjoy dining there.

There are many ready-to-eat food available such as sashimi, sushi, tempura, teppanyaki, soups, western food, chinese food, noodles, and much more. Too bad that day they don't have fresh oyster and salmon sashimi.

There are also a variety choices for barbeque. Many of it you have to order from the menu and of course are unlimited.

It's fun to barbeque especially in air-cond room where you won't sweat. You can even boil wine crab, scallop and lala on the stove.

The best way to eat barbeque meat is korean style, dip in barbeque sauce then wrap it with fresh salad. Juicy, tasty and healthy.

Never forget their cooling dessert of ice-cream, jelly, and 'gui ling gao'. Very suitable for after barbeque. Even a hot cup of hot tea or coffee is very nice.

Mini Chicken Egg

My grandparent that came for visit from Ipoh bought some special egg for us. They say its from mini chicken that they call "bird chicken". The eggs are also much more smaller compare to the normal eggs. The colour and taste are a bit different. For me, they are just very cute.

On the last day of my internship, I treated my family and friend to seafood at Tak Fok Restaurant at Aman Puri, Kepong. Their crab is cheap and delicious. Other dishes some are expensive, some are cheap. If you don't know what to order, bring and treat me as well.

Little Tian Tian

Little Tian Tian is my one of my best friend's daughther. She's now (if not mistaken) almost 3 month old. She live very far at Sungai Buloh so i rarely have chance go visit her. I bought a set of clothes for her long time ago but last Sunday only i manage to give her.

End of Internship Celebrations (Part 1)

On the 2nd last day of our internship (9/4/09), the three of us that was doing internship in the same company, went for celebration at the Korean Stone BBQ Steamboat Buffet near our office (Ampang Waterfront). We have planned this since we start internship. I suggested this place because i tried before long time ago and it can be consider as the cheapest Korean BBQ we can find in that area. We wanted to try Korean BBQ because the area that we worked is near the "Korean Village" and we were always tempted by all the Korean food around us. So we make a promise to ourselves that we must try the famous Korean BBQ at least 1 time.

The price have increase a little. Last time when newly open it's RM18.90 but now it's RM22.80. Extra RM2.00 for free flow of drinks.

Each table have 1 steambot pot and 1 stone pan. Sometimes quite troublesome because you have to stand up and walk over to the stove to cook your food.

Japanese Porridge

My sister bring back don't know from where few Japanese instant porridge. She say a guy from Japan bring this along from Japan just in case he don't like the food here.I think that this type of porridge are not sale in Malaysia. Let me introduce the three flavour that i have tried.

Japanese instant porridge produce by Ajinomoto.

Very convenience and easy to prepare. Just put the whole packet in boiling water for 5 minutes.

Flavour #1: Egg. Nothing special, just white porridge with some egg taste. But this is the most eatable among all.

Flavour #2: Original. Taste very "original" ,a.k.a no taste at all.

Flavour #3: Sour plum. EXTREMELY sour. Even after i have mix it with the tasteless original white porridge, it still taste super sour.

In conclusion, I don't like all these 3 instant porridge. Good to try but for 1 time enough. Yakks....!

My Beloved Host

During my internship not long ago, i have a chance to work for a production of a magazine show - 4C 2nd Season. The best part of the whole production is get to know a local artist, Haryati Hamzah, better known as Yatt. I don't know much about local malay actress so I never heard about her previously. She's super friendly and nice. Not just no "diva" attitude, but she can play crazily with us. Miraclely, she also like orange colour. Her car is bright orange colour. She also like to take pictures so we have taken quite many pictures together with her.

My Birthday

Previous post is about my pre-birthday celebration so this post surely must be the celebration of actual birthday. After the pre celebration, actually I don't want to celebrate anymore. But i have such good family and friends that want to make me happy so i celebrated my birthday 2nd time.

Celebration at my office:

Dearest Joanne cook spagetthi for me. Her spagetthi always come with "bottomless" cheese powder. Lovely....

The only birthday "cake" i ate this year, specially bought by Cuiyi. It's actually jelly + cream. Quite nice but not my favourite (sorry Cuiyi). What so great about this cake is 1 of the candle is made by paper (thanks to the "clever" Cuiyi that took less candle). Haha...

The main dish, Fragrant Gravy Crab. We have planned to order crab because its my favourite. This dish is super expensive, RM50+. But since its my big day, my sister treat me as well. I feel bad but who care, its really delicious.

The main dish is not complete without Fried Mantau. Crunchy and soft mantau dip with the creamy crab gravy is like heaven....

One of the significant dish in the restaurant, Asam Fish. Not very spicy but sour enough. Really open my appetite. RM18.00 only.

My Pre-Birthday Celebration

Maybe i'm getting old so I don't feel like celebrating birthday with crowd anymore. My family allow me to do party at home but i chose to celebrate it wit my family. On saturday, i make planning myself and do a pre-birthday celebration.

Morning we go Petaling Street have breakfast. We ate almost all the famous breakfast there.

Fresh yee sang porridge. Located at the cross junction of chinatown. Not cheap but worth trying.

Chee cheong fun - RM5 (small). They only sell this 1 type of original chee cheong fun without yong tau foo. But some regular customer like it with soy sauce only.

Fresh soya bean milk. Yum yum....

My favourite "mua chee". RM5 per box. Got 8 flavour so i like to mix all. The owner auntie is very nice but talk a lot.

Then we went to 1 Utama to watch movie, Slumdog Millionaire. Very hard to book ticket but worth it. Nice and touching story.

Afternoon is pampering time. I have made bookings at The Spa in Plaza Damas for a relaxing escape. Last week i came here to do shooting for a TV program that's why i get to know the person in-charge and get a very good discount. This is the 1st time i do spa and massage. The treatment that i choose is coffee scrub + milk bath + essential massage. My sister and mom is infra sauna + ginger (mom) and rose (sis) scrub + essential massage. We don't quite enjoy ourself because the scrub and massage is very painful. I think that only the price (after disount) and the infra sauna is good. There's not much photos here because i already took many last time we come here do shooting.

My milk bath. They give very little water only so the whole half hour i have to roll around like food being preserve. The milk is not very thick so if I add more water the effect will become lesser.

Dinner is the best part of all. We went to Puchong for shabu-shabu buffet. Been there couple of times. They just moved to newer and bigger building. The price also increase a little from RM25 to RM26.9. What I don't like is we can't choose seat. Not that i mind like sitting with strangers but the gap is very small so we have to sit closely to each other. Unluckily that day there's a big size guy beside me and he almost occupied my place too. There's not much photos here because we were busy grabbing all the food that passby infront and stuffing it into mouth.

Incase you are not familiar, this is the environment. Exactly like sushi king but with a pot of steaming soup in front of you.

I think these are the most expensive dishes there. The mini octopus are not nice because it's "giant" mini octopus. When its big, it taste like rubber. The pork slices very nice.

Homemade Korean Food

My internship company is very near Korean Village at Ampang. One day after lunch, we went to look around at a Korean mini market there. I can't stop myself from buying my favourite kimchi. After that, I decided to try to cook kimchi soup. During free time at office, I google for the recipe. I found some other korean dishes that is easy to made so i decided to cook a meal of korean food for my family. I planned to cook 4 dishes but end up cooking 2 dishes only. Since I only bought 1 box of kimchi, its not enough to make 2 kimchi dishes. So i choose to make kimchi soup and give up on kimchi fried rice. Another dish that I fail to make is korean pancake because i bought the wrong main ingredient. But overall is consider successful. Everyone say its delicious.

Tadaa....! My korean food meal.

Every korean meal must have kimchi as side dish.

Gochoojang (korean chili paste). This is the most important ingredient in cooking korean food. Almost all korean food need this. This is also the paste that used in preserving kimchi. The taste is very unique, definitely not same with normal chili paste. Its not cheap but luckily that time I found 1 market that got promotion. This brand can also be found at Jusco.

Kimchi (RM7.00). More spicy compare to the 1 Cuiyi bought at other market but we think that her 1 is more tasty and cheaper.

Kimchi Chigae (kimchi soup). My sister say it taste exactly like those in korean restaurant but mine is a bit too spicy. We all eat till flu and tears drowning.

Dak Jorim (spicy chicken and potato stew). Even Sam that don't like weird weird food think that its delicious. This stew is suppose to have more gravy but i over cook it so its quite dry.

Christmas Eve BBQ Party

This is last year activity but I don have time to write about it so now only i post it. It's been very long time we didn't make BBQ party at home but last year Christmas eve, we suddenly have the mood to do it. We only invite our close relatives and friends.

Preparing for the party. Sam build fire, i arrange tables and chairs.

Below are some of the food that we prepared. I forgot to take picture of the chicken wings, sausages, fried meehon, curry chicken, salad, milo agar-agar, and all the drinks. Let me introduce all the food one by one.

There are four "chef" who compete at the whole night to get the crown of 'Master of BBQ Chicken Wings'. The winner for 'The most BBQ chicken wings at one time' is Wayne (red shirt) while the winner for 'The most tasty & good looking BBQ chicken wings' is all of them. (If I choose one winner only then surely get beaten by the others :p)

Look out for western food @ Look Out Point

Finally my sister bring us to the popular Look Out Point at Ampang (some say its at Ulu Klang but the address is at Ampang). This place was once (and still is) an infamous tourist attraction known as Kompleks Pelancongan Menara Tinjau. But now it have turn into a popular place with many restaurants.

The restaurant we choose is the cheapest and most famous, Look Out Point Western Food. Good environment but its quite small so its crowded. We are lucky that we get the table at the farest end which have the nicest view (usually you need to make reservation for those tables).

Beautiful KL view. I recommend you go there earlier before the sky totally dark. But pray for luck because it might be covered by mist. We are not so lucky because it rains for a while so its not clear enough to see the KLCC.

Time to introduce the yummy food & beverages. We all ate the most popular sizzling steaks there. Most of the customer there also will order sizzling steak so you can see and hear sizzling sound all the time. That's why your clothes will smell when u leave. Haha...

Roselle Flowers d' Juice (RM6.50). Taste Sour and sweet like plum juice. Quite interesting...

Cream of mushroom soup with bun (RM4.30)

Special Sizzling Lamb Chop (RM16.30). I don't know what so special about it. Just got extra 1 ham with cheese & the sauce is different, but have the price is more RM3.00 than the normal sizzling lamb chop.

Special Sizzling Chicken Chop (RM14.80). Same as above.

BBQ Sizzling Steak (RM17.80). Meat very tender. Nice....

Black Pepper Sizzling Chicken Chop (RM12.80). Not very thick pepper taste but still delicious.

Since my sister pay for this meal, i have to do what she want. Therefore below are some photos of my ugly eating moments. Please don't laugh so hard.

After the meal, we went to the real look out point for better view. But the place is too dark so we don't dare to go up. Scary.......

Well, this place is really nice especially for celebrations like birthday. Gasoline also opened a branch here but their location do not have good view. A reminder: you need to bring someone that know the way here and with quite good driving skills to drive up the small hill road (my driving is good enough but I don't know the way :p)

Buffet Lunch @ Restaurant Noble House

Last Sunday, me and my sister treat our mom and elder sister buffet lunch to celebrate their birthday. My sister found out this place at others people blog.

The price is reasonable, RM39++ per person. I think not much people know bout this so the place is not crowded. It is situated at Jalan Imbi. The lunch buffet is 11.30am - 2.30pm. See the pictures below and judge yourself whether its worth it or not. For me, its valuable and will definitely go again.

The most expensive dish, that's why limit 1 bowl per person. If you pay RM59++, they will serve better type of shark fin soup. I always tell myself not to eat shark fin anymore but still unresistable :p

Appetizers that can't be miss.

Its NOT cheese stick. Inside is fish meat.

Giant fishball. I don't like to eat all type of fishball but they all say this one very nice. My elder sister thought its pork rib. Haha...

Don't know what is this but taste nice. The outer layer super crunchy.

Don't know what is this as well but also taste nice. I wonder why they don't want to put label for all the food.

Chicken boxer. Sweet...

Fresh sashimi.

Cheese baked oyster. They don't actually have the real oyster inside, just cheese baked minced meat in the shell. I'm quite disappointed...

"Burned" snails. This one really consist snail meat.

Platter consist of char siew, roast pork, steamed chicken, fried wanton, etc.

Beijing duck. Incase you don't know about this dish, they will skinned out the roast duck's skin then wrap it with egg. The meat they will then minced it and fry it as another dish.

Braised duck feet.

You can never guess, its salmon fish. What a weird way to cook salmon, but taste nice.

Char siew ramen. Not very nice.

Yam. Purely yam only, no crab meat inside.

Super long and thin don't know what Japanese fish.

Mix your own fresh seafood salad.

Fried rice is a must try dish for my mom and Sam.

Seafood Galore

Going to Kuala Selangor for seafood is one of my family favourite activities. We haven't been there for quite some time since you know... But me and my mom with few relatives went there again on Sunday. Let me introduce to you what so nice about going there for seafood.

Pasir Penambang, the place where many seafood restaurant situated.

This is our most preferred restaurant. We have tried few others but we think this one have the best price. Maybe other restaurants have improve but we still dine here only.

Below is some of the dishes that we ordered before. Yum yum...

"Chi Loh" a.k.a thorn shell. Not everyday available but very nice. Just dig out the meat with a satay stick then eat with chilie sauce.

Fried baby squid. Many people eat fried squid before but we personally think that fried baby squid is more crunchy and nice.

The well known "Kam Heong Lala" and kerang rebus.

Although there are many ways in cooking crab but "Kam Heong" is the most common yet popular. Their meehon fried crab is also very nice.

Their unique fried oyster with egg , look like pizza and taste crunchy. I have tasted this dish in different places such as KL, Taiwan, Kuching and all have their own style.

Other common dishes are steamed fish and fried vegetables. I don't recommend kangkung belacan because its not nice. But their tomyam soup is not bad.

After having such nice meal, its time to go shopping. The seafood products there is famous for its freshness and varieties.

Outside the restaurant, there is a stall selling many dried seafood products and snacks. They got not many customers so i assume the price is not very cheap.

There is a store in the same row of the restaurant that sell many seafood products too. We always buy fish ball and yong tau foo here. I highly recommend this store for its product freshness, varieties and price. By the way, the crackers that you can see hanging at entrance are also very famous in this area.

Last but not least, the place to buy fresh seafood is of course at their market. Last time it used to be small stalls and very crowded, but thanks to the government for building them a proper market place. Its wet of course but quite clean. A reminder: don't come here earlier in the morning to grab what you want because their seafood will only arrive after noon. So the best time to buy the freshest seafood will be evening. And don't forget to bargain and bring your own coolbox.

As i mention before, we numerous time before. We even celebrated few celebrations here.

The Unique Starhill

On 23/11/08, me and cuiyi went to Bukit Bintang for partime as flyer distributer. We park our car at Starhill. I don't quite like the parking there because only B1 and B4 onwards got lift access to JW Marriot Hotel & Starhill.

When we get into the lift, we get a shock. All the buttons contain name, not level or floor. We think for a moment then decide to choose our favorite word, FEAST. Btw, our parking is at 'B4-Olive'.

I have been to Starhill couple of times but Cuiyi never been there so when we arrive at the lower level with all restaurants, she's very excited and amazed by their beautiful design. Her heart immediately become very "itchy" so we make a deal to come back take photo after work. Unbelievably, we took about 140+ photo.

1st stop: Toilet.
What a unique toilet. When you want to wash hand, you have to turn a big wheel. Every cubicle have different lamp. They provide facilities such as bench, high stool, full length mirror, napkin, hand towel, etc.

Next stop: All around FEAST floor and the complex.

Another stop: Passage to JW Marriot Hotel.
From Starhill to Marriot Hotel, you can go thru this pathway where there are mirrors with thousands of tiny light bulb that changes colours. We manage to take photo when it turn into our favorite colour, my orange and cuiyi's purple.

Last stop: Christmas Decorations.
Their Xmas decoration is simple yet elegant. Last year Christmas tree is all white, this year the tree is green but deco still white.

My sister bought 3 flavor for us to try. Promotional box only RM9.00. Yum Yum...

1. Curry Chicken Baoz (RM3.00)

Crispy skin with some salt powder. Curry chicken not spicy but taste nice.

2. Tri-Star Squid Roll (RM3.50)
Look like sushi but taste like man tau. Wasabi sauce on top with those japanese "sea weed" (used in making miso soup n ajinomoto). I dunno why the name is squid but got no squid.

3. Roast Beef Baoz (RM3.50)
Taste like pau (finally...) with mayonnaise on top.
